Kilauea EcoGuides provides active, education-based private tours that are fully licensed and insured, and customized to your group's specific interests and abilities. As a leader in the ecotour industry on the island of Hawai'i there is no tour bus or van involved, however this private education based option is designed to focus on your specific interests and preferences and there is no compromise with a large group. We do not visit farms, waterfalls or gift shops as the active volcanoes of Hawaii are our focus and area of expertise. If this sounds like an experience that would interest you, we would meet within Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park at the Volcano House hotel and spend most of our time on trails in the field (as opposed to being in the vehicle for most of the day). There are several excellent short hikes and moderate walks available at the summit area which access areas that few get to explore while here on the island. While exploring we focus on the education base by discussing in depth topics such as geology, native flora and fauna, and the amazing Hawaiian culture that still thrives here on Kilauea today. You also have the option of using your own vehicle while on tour if you prefer a 'road based' exploration, in which case your professional guide rides along with you and takes you to several points of interest on the volcano itself, including the Chain of Craters road.
