Fanciful and elaborate gardens entertained Queen Elizabeth I during her reign. This garden was created for your enjoyment, and as a memorial to Sir Walter Raleigh’s lost colonists who lived in this very place over 400 years ago. On ten acres within Fort Raleigh Historic Site, the Garden is adorned by Renaissance statues, an Elizabethan-gazebo, a sunken knot garden and by an ever-changing palette from of hydrangeas, native plants, perennials and camellias. Gardens, Gift shop and nursery open daily year-round.
