The current exhibit, Archaeologists at Work: The Lee Street Site, provides a fascinating glimpse at the way archaeologists study the past. Small “table top” exhibits feature other Alexandria archaeological discoveries, and hands-on activities engage visitors of all ages! Free admission.

PORTSMOUTH COMMUNITY COLORED LIBRARY MUSEUM - Portsmouth, VA
The Portsmouth Community Colored Library served black patrons from 1945 until 1963, when the main library was integrated. The small, one-story brick building was originally located on South Street near Effingham Street. The land at this new location was purchased with donations made by Portsmouth citizens, black and white. Open Friday from 10 am - Noon and Saturday: 1 - 5 pm. Other hours available by appointment.

WILLIAM KING MUSEUM OF ART - Abingdon, VA
The William King Museum of Art is a non-profit regional art museum and arts education center housed in a historic former school. It is the only facility of its kind and Virginia’s only nationally accredited museum west of Roanoke. An average of 9 exhibitions are mounted each year, showcasing art of the region and of the world. The Museum offers five galleries, educational programming, artist studios, Museum Store, reference library, research archive, and an outdoor sculpture garden.
